What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you use our contact form or book a consultation, we collect your name, email address, and message content. This data is retained for 7 years to comply with legal statutes of limitations and for business record-keeping. 
 After this period, the data is securely deleted or anonymized.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to analyze website usage and improve our services.  This service collects data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited. This data is used to generate reports on website traffic and user behavior.

Google Analytics places cookies on your device to collect this information. The data collected is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required by law.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.  Alternatively, you can disable cookies in your browser settings.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. However, to deliver our services, we share limited data with trusted third-party processors:

• Payment Processors: We process all payments through Stripe, Inc. (‘Stripe’). This includes payments made via credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
• Data Shared: When you checkout, your name, billing address, email, and payment details are transmitted directly to Stripe.
• Data Storage: We do not store your full credit card number or CVV on our servers. Stripe handles all sensitive payment data in compliance with PCI-DSS standards.
• Digital Wallets: If you use Apple Pay or Google Pay, your device information and wallet token are also processed by Stripe to authorize the transaction
• Video Conferencing: If your consultation is held via a messaging platform like Messenger, Whatsapp, Telegram, or Signal, etc., your video/audio data is processed by that platform. Please review their respective privacy policies.
• Email Services: Your contact information may be stored in our email provider’s system to facilitate communication.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights.

Sensitive Service Data

Please note that the content of your video consultation or treatment session (audio, video, chat logs within the session) is not stored on our website servers. It is processed solely by our secure video provider ([Insert Name, e.g., Zoom/Doxy.me]) and is subject to their specific privacy and retention policies. We do not record sessions unless explicitly agreed upon in writing.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained for 7 years to allow for follow-up communication and spam detection, after which they are securely deleted.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

You also have the right to restrict processing of your data or object to processing. If you believe your data is being processed incorrectly, you have the right to rectification (correction).

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How we protect your data

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including SSL encryption (HTTPS) for all data transmissions and secure password practices for administrative access.

Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will take steps to delete it.

Your Rights Under California Law (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell your personal information. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to opt-out of the ‘sharing’ of your personal information for targeted advertising. Since we do not share data for cross-context behavioral advertising, no opt-out mechanism is currently required. However, you may request to delete your data or opt-out of future data collection by contacting us.

Video Conferencing

Video & Messaging Platforms: “Consultations are conducted via consumer-grade messaging applications chosen by mutual agreement (e.g., WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, or LINE). Please note: These platforms are not HIPAA-compliant healthcare tools.  By booking a session, you acknowledge that:

• Your call and message data are processed by the selected third-party app according to their privacy policy (e.g., Meta for WhatsApp/Messenger, Telegram FZ-LLC for Telegram).
• We do not record sessions unless explicitly agreed upon in writing beforehand.
• You are responsible for ensuring your own device and app settings are secure.
• If you require a HIPAA-compliant environment, please request a dedicated secure link prior to booking.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
